Today,
I tell you something about John F. Kennedy, the 35th
president of the US. His whole
name is John Fitzgerald Kennedy. He was born on the 29th May
1917 in Brookline (Massachusetts). His parents are Joseph Patrick
Kennedy and Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy. He had
many brothers and sisters:
Joseph P. Kennedy Junior: 1944 he died because he flew in a plane with the US army over the English Channel, and then he fell into it. They haven’t found him yet.
Rosemarie Kennedy: she died 2005 when she were 86 years old.
Kathleen Kennedy-Cavendish: She died 1948 in a plane when she flew over French.
Eunice Kennedy Shriver: she is the Forger of the Special Olympics.
Patricia Kennedy Lawford: she died 2006 when she were 82 years old.
Robert Kennedy: He died same as his brother John. It was a assassination.
Jean Ann Kennedy Smith: She became in 1993 ambassador of ireland.
Edward Moore “Ted” Kennedy: He became the senior United
States Senator from Massachusetts.
Now
to his schooltime. He went to many
different and expensive private schools in Massachusetts, Connectuit
and New York. 1935, when he was ready with school, he went to england
with his sister Kathleen. He wanted to go to London School of Economics
for a schoolastic. But then he became ill and had to go back to
America. Then he wanted to go to an other university, the Prinecton
University. He became icterus. So he had to go home one more time.
Against that, he studied at Harvard University. Then he became
osteoporosis. 1940 he had wrote a book with the name: “Why England
Slept”. At least he were at Stanford University. In his schoolastic time he became
also the illness Addison’s disease. But that was known much later.
I would like to tell you something about his military time
now. 1941 he went on his own to the US-army. But he can’t stay there,
because he was so much ill. But then he had a chance to come to the
US-marine. Later he became the commander of a boat. When he and his
crew were in the Salomon Islands, two of his crew members died. The
ship sank because it was ramed by another ship. He was called as a hero
because he was ill, but he had rescued his crew members.
1945 he worked as a journalist, later he was vote in the
United States House of Representatives. In November 1952 he was changed
to the US-senator of Massachusetts. Because he had knowed that a man
without a wife can’t become president, he married Jaqueline Bouvier.
His first try to become president was bad for him. He wasn’t become
president. The second try was much better: He became the president of
the United States. He was president for 1036 days. He was the first
catholic president of the US. Now I tell you something about the
political things which were at that time:
Invasion of Cuban Exiles in the Bay of
Pigs on the Island Kuba. Of the deep defence of the troops of Fidel
Castro the invasion failed and becomes military und political to a flop.
Kennedy protested against the
construction of the Berliner Mauer.
He made the board aid to
developing countrys(AID).
He created a own board for
questions to disarmament.
Creation of a military command in South
Vietnam. Kennedy blared out a thread
that he will shot with atomic weapons, when Cuba or west-berlin will be
attacked.
Kennedy wants in TV, that all Sowjet
standoff missiles have to be dissasembeld. USA blocked the way on the
way to Kuba. The Sowjetunion went out of
Kuba.
Kuba crisis was ended.
Kennedy directed the conference, the
concept for a civil liberty which only has to safe the suffrage for the
black people.
He vistited Berlin and spoke of solidarity
of the USA in front of the city hall and there he said the important
words: "ICH BIN EIN BERLINER!"
The assassination
John F. Kennedy was shot down in
a open car, when he drove downtown. His wife was with him. That was on
the 22th November 1963 in Dallas. Thats in Texas. All people thought
that Lee Harvey Oswald has shot him down. Later they have knowed that
he wasn’t it because they can’t find any spoors on the weapon. They
can’t ask him because he was found two days again the assassination
Jack Ruby killed the man. It’s not sure who killed John F. Kennedy.
There are many things which are
named after him. You can see many examples on your handout, so for
example the Kennedy Space Center or the John F. Kennedy International
Airport.
I hope that you found out a lot of information and that it wasn’t to
much boring for you.
